Meet IndianRaga founder Sriram Emani

Having established IndianRaga as a premier global platform for Indian performing arts—fostering thousands of artistic collaborations across the world—Sriram Emani is broadening his creative focus into cinematic storytelling. His debut short film, Jam Boy, marks a strategic pivot into narrative filmmaking aimed at exploring nuanced South Asian experiences and dismantling conventional diaspora tropes.
Key takeaways:
- Set against a speculative sci-fi backdrop where societal standing and immigration status are driven by algorithmic credit metrics, Jam Boy serves as a psychological portrait of an immigrant coder struggling under systemic erasure.
- IndianRaga, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, also offers a Raga Fellowship that selects artists through a competitive international panel to create professionally produced collaborative performances.
- With Jam Boy, Emani is beginning to explore his next chapter, combining his experience of building a platform for South Asian arts with a larger ambition to bring South Asian stories into mainstream global entertainment.
