Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has approved the promotion of 1,948 National Police Service (NPS) officers whose promotions had been pending.
In a statement, the NPS said the officers had successfully completed the required promotional courses and met all the needed conditions for advancement to various ranks with the promotions expected to take effect accordingly.
Kanja congratulated the officers on their promotions and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and diligence as they take on greater responsibilities.
He emphasized that promotion comes with increased expectations, calling on the officers to discharge their duties fairly, remain accountable and respect the rule of law while serving the public.
The Inspector General further noted that the promotions would contribute to strengthening operational efficiency and improving service delivery across the Police Service.
The move comes as the service continues to pursue reforms aimed at enhancing professionalism, accountability and responsiveness in policing.
The NPS reassured the public of its commitment to protect them, stating that it remains focused on building an efficient, professional and people-centred police service that promotes public safety and contributes to a secure society.
