Passengers from coastal Karnataka have taken serious objection to South Western Railway’s move to postpone the arrival of Karwar-KSR Bengaluru Panchaganga Express (16596) at Yeshwantpur by 25 minutes.
The SWR on Tuesday announced that the Panchaganga Express would arrive Yeshwantpur at 6.48 a.m. instead of 6.23 a.m. from October 20.
Uttara Kannada Railway Seva Samithi and Kundapura Railway Prayanikara Hitarakshana Samiti in a joint statement here stated that at a time when the Railway Ministry was working to further speed up trains and reduce travel time, the SWR has adopted a retrograde step by postponing Panchaganga’s arrival at Yeshwantpur.
For the past several months, Panchganga was having significant delays in reaching Bengaluru due to various reasons. The SWR, which should have identified reasons and eliminated the delays, has instead changed the schedule, which is condemnable.
The associations urged the SWR to review the revised schedule of Panchaganga Express at Yeshwantpur and restore the earlier timing for the benefit of passengers from coastal Karnataka.
