The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), has reported a multiple auto crash involving a tanker loaded with petrol, an empty howo truck and a Dangote truck loaded with cement on the old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
The Divisional TRACE Commander in Ifo, Ogun State, Kelani B.F., said the accident caused vehicular gridlock on both inbound and outbound sections of the expressway.
Mr Kelani said, “A multiple road traffic crash, at Shebic Fire Service area, outbound Abeokuta, on the old Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, involving a tanker loaded with petrol, which fell on its side, one empty howo truck and another Dangote loaded cement truck that lost control and crossed the entire road has been reported.
“Traffic is affected on both inbound and outbound section of the expressway. However, TRACE, Fire Service and the Police are presently on ground managing the situation.”
Mr Kelani advised motorists in a haste or just setting out on a journey, to ply alternative routes to avoid being stuck in the backlog the incident has generated.
He stated, “Vehicles coming from Abeokuta, should pass through Papa-Ajegunle along Ilaro Road and come out at Bank Junction, Ifo. Vehicles coming from Lagos should make use of Ifo-Ibogun road and come out at Ajegunle Ilaro road.”
Mr Kelani regretted the inconveniences caused by the traffic congestion.
