As it stands, the Chicago Bears are currently 4-2 and are in third place in the NFC North.
The Bears have the same record as the Green Bay Packers, who are also 4-2 after they beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 on Sunday Night Football. The Bears beat the Atlanta Falcons 31-23 in Week 6.
We got to see both Caleb Williams, Ozzy Trapilo and Kyler Gordon return from injury.
Williams hadn't played since Week 2 due to a hamstring injury. He came back and threw for 305 passing yards and one touchdown in the win. He looked very sharp, completing 30 of 36 passes.
Trapilo's comeback story this season has been nothing short of remarkable. He was expected to miss most of the year while recovering from his patellar tendon injury. Yet, he was taken off the PUP list during training camp and made his 2026 debut on Sunday.
He worked his way into the offensive line rotation after starting on the Bears' field-goal unit.
Gordon also played for the first time in 2026. He dealt with a soft-tissue injury in the offseason that carried into the regular season. He was activated from the PUP list and had a big impact in the win.
Gordon finished with three sacks, four total tackles and four TFLs.
The win was a relief for Bears fans after the brutal 31-7 loss to the Packers the week before.
It's still very early, but we got our first look at the NFC playoff picture heading into Week 7. The top seed in the conference is the San Francisco 49ers (6-0). They won't play until the Divisional Round because they have the first-round bye.
The NFC North has all four teams in the playoffs right now. The Detroit Lions (3-2) would travel to face the Minnesota Vikings (5-0). The Packers (4-2) would take on the New York Giants (3-2).
The Bears are currently the No. 6 seed in the NFC and would face an opponent they have already seen. The Bears would face the Carolina Panthers and have a chance to bury them in the postseason.
Chicago put up 59 points in the season opener against Carolina. The Panthers scored 37 points, but the Bears' offense overshadowed it.
This would be an interesting matchup. There's no doubt the Panthers will be seeking revenge after the disappointing Week 1 loss to the Bears.
The two teams nearly met in the playoffs last year. The Panthers lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round. The Bears and Rams then played for the chance to reach the NFC Championship Game.
As we know, the Rams beat the Bears 20-17 in overtime. The Panthers came close to upsetting the Rams, falling 34-31 at home.
We still have a lot of football left to play, so nothing is set in stone. This is how the NFC playoff race looks right now. Last year taught us that things can change in an instant.
The Bears controlled the NFC North, then lost it after falling to the Packers in Week 14. Chicago then retook the division lead in Week 16 after beating Green Bay.
It'll be interesting to see what changes after Week 7. The Bears have a date with the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.
Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m. CT on Prime Video.
