Palmeiras beat RB Bragantino 2–0 at Arena Barueri on Saturday (24) in Matchday 32 of the Brasileirão.
Verdão dominated from the start of the first half, but took a while to turn that control into goals.
Ramón Sosa found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside. The Paraguayan forward then missed a penalty.
In first-half stoppage time, the referee awarded Palmeiras another penalty following a VAR review, after Guzmán Rodríguez handled the ball in the box.
This time, Maurício sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to put Verdão ahead.
After the break, goalkeeper Tiago Volpi made a superb save from Marlon Freitas's header to deny Palmeiras a second goal.
However, on another counterattack led by Jhon Arias, right-back Giay arrived in the box to finish off a pass from fellow Argentine Flaco López and extend Palmeiras' lead.
