ALOR GAJAH: Barisan Nasional (BN) will contest 21 seats while Pas and its allies will field seven candidates in next month's Melaka election, following the finalisation of seat negotiations.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition would use its own logo, while the decision on the logo to be used by Pas and its allies would be left to their leadership.
"BN will contest using the BN logo. It is up to their (Pas and its allies') leadership to decide," he told reporters after attending the 'Melaka Bermunajat: Ratib Al-Attas and Asmaulhusna' programme at Masjid Salmah Khamis in Masjid Tanah tonight.
Zahid said BN would announce its candidates for the Melaka election on Saturday.
The Election Commission has set polling day for Nov 14, with nomination day on Oct 31 and early voting on Nov 10.
In the 2021 Melaka election, BN won 21 of the 28 seats contested, enabling it to form the state government. Pakatan Harapan won five seats, while Perikatan Nasional secured two.
