Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for fighting attempts to divide India and defeating its enemies in his Dussehra message, as he addressed Vijayadashami celebrations at Delhi’s Indraprastha Ramleela Ground. His remarks came amid CJP protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said Vijayadashami celebrates the triumph of good over evil and reminds people of the enduring strength of truth and righteousness.
"On this auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, I bow at the feet of Lord Shri Ram, Maa Janaki, and Bajrangbali. In this sacred atmosphere, I extend my heartfelt Vijayadashami wishes to all the people of the country," the Prime Minister said.
He observed that the spirit of Lord Ram and the tradition of Ramlila continue to unite the country, with celebrations taking place in villages and cities across India.
"This is not merely a festival celebrated across the country. It is the very life force of India," PM Modi said, adding that the celebrations reaffirm the victory of righteousness over unrighteousness.
PM MODI CALLS FOR SELF-RELIANT INDIA
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of making India fully self-reliant, saying that a country can progress when it develops the ability to meet its needs through its own resources.
Referring to the teachings of Lord Ram, PM Modi said they showed people how to find solutions to problems using their own resources.
WELFARE OF POOR, DEPRIVED SECTIONS A PRIORITY
PM Modi said the government's priority was the welfare of the poor and deprived sections of society.
He also highlighted the significance of Vijayadashami as a reminder of the lasting power of truth and righteousness, with the festival symbolising the victory of good over evil.
The Prime Minister's address at the Delhi Dussehra celebrations centred on the ideals associated with Lord Ram, the cultural significance of Ramlila and the importance of self-reliance and social welfare.
