The Chargers are preparing for their game against the Chiefs on Sunday, October 18, at 1:25 pm PT.
Here are five key things to know about Kansas City ahead of the Week 6 matchup:
Undefeated with history on the line
The Chiefs are 4-0 coming off their bye week, and head coach Andy Reid can join George Halas and Paul Brown as the only coaches in NFL history with six career 5-0 starts.
Bolstered backfield
After winning a Super Bowl ring with the Seahawks, running back Kenneth Walker left the NFC and signed with the Chiefs this past offseason. Walker is second in the NFL with 537 rushing yards and leads the league with 6.2 yards per carry, keeping the offense efficient and taking pressure off Patrick Mahomes. He has cleared 170 rushing yards in two of his four games.
Patrick is playing well
After tearing his ACL and LCL late last year, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has not lost a step. Through four games in the 2026 regular season, Mahomes has thrown for 1,037 yards, 9 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, posting an impressive 106.2 passer rating. He hasn't been much of a rushing threat as he continues to gain more confidence with his knee.
Strong start defensively
Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's defense has functioned as a top-10 unit by allowing 19.3 points per game. Despite ranking last in the NFL with only four sacks, the Chiefs remain dominant due to consistent pressure from George Karlaftis, Chris Jones, and rookie R Mason Thomas. Against the run, Kansas City is seventh in the NFL, allowing just 92.8 rushing yards per game.
Winning the turnover battle
The Chiefs boast a +5 turnover differential, the second-best in the NFL. Kansas City's offense has been incredibly disciplined, committing only two giveaways (both interceptions), while the defense has forced 7 takeaways, including 4 interceptions.
