By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service has issued an excessive rainfall watch for the country.
Forecasters say rainfall of 2 to 4 inches per day or more is possible across Belize over the next couple of days.
Residents are advised to stay tuned to official weather updates and keep monitoring the situation, especially in low lying and flood prone areas.
The heavy rain is linked to a trough of low pressure that is keeping moist and unstable conditions over the region.
Skies will be cloudy to overcast. Showers, thunderstorms and periods of light rain are expected especially over coastal and northern areas early this morning, then spreading over most areas of the country today.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler. Coastal areas will reach 87°F (31°C), inland areas 90°F (32°C) and the hills 78°F (26°C). Overnight lows range from 78°F on the coast to 74°F inland and 67°F in the hills.
The forecast was issued by forecaster Derrick Rudon.
