People paid record money to attend Milwaukee's first World Series game since 1982.
The final get-in price for Game 1 of the Fall Classic on Oct. 23 between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Milwaukee Brewers was $2,338 (including fees), the most in MLB history by over $500.
That's according to ticketdata.com, a ticket price tracker for sports and concerts, which listed the final get-in price at 5:06 p.m. CDT, around two hours before first pitch. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel asked TicketData for more information, but did not immediately hear back.
According to TicketData, Rays-Brewers Game 1 is $529 more than the second-most expensive World Series game: Game 4 of 2016 series when the Chicago Cubs hosted Cleveland at Wrigley Field.
It's been well-documented that ticket prices are exorbitantly expensive for games in Milwaukee.
Many fans have complained about being priced-out of the historic opportunity to watch the Brewers compete for their first championship. Some fans are traveling to Tampa to save money; tickets are hundreds of dollars cheaper there than at American Family Field.
