Taiz – Yemeni sources reported an escalation in fighting between government forces and the Houthi group on the outskirts of Taiz city and in the Sabr al-Mawadim district south of the city, amid a widespread displacement of residents due to the clashes.
The sources confirmed that the Houthis seized control of Jabal Han, west of Taiz, following a day of intense fighting in its vicinity.
They added that Houthi positions and reinforcements were targeted by a series of airstrikes, but no information was available regarding the extent of human or material losses.
The ongoing clashes have caused thousands of families to flee from the outskirts of Taiz towards the city center, as the city remains under siege and restrictions on the entry of basic necessities persist.
Villages in the Sabr al-Mawadim district, south of Taiz, have also witnessed a similar displacement of families, amid fears of a worsening humanitarian situation as the fighting continues.
Missile Attacks on Saudi Arabia
These developments coincide with the Houthis' announcement on Wednesday that they targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with a ballistic missile.
The group said in a statement that the missile hit the airport "precisely and directly," though there has been no Saudi confirmation of this claim.
The group also announced the launch of three ballistic missiles toward what it described as Saudi troop concentrations in the Ras al-Ara and al-Mudharabah areas, claiming casualties and the destruction of military vehicles—information that has not been confirmed by Saudi authorities.
In contrast, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted a Civil Defense spokesman as saying that emergency teams responded to an incident involving debris from a ballistic missile that was intercepted and destroyed in Riyadh.
The spokesman explained that the incident resulted in injuries to an Arab resident, as well as minor material damage to a house and a vehicle.
