Phil Foden has praised the Etihad faithful for their superb support in our 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town.
City see off Ipswich as Maresca makes Premier League history
Our Academy graduate returned to action for the first time since his red card in mid-September and made an instant impact, sweeping us ahead after 19 minutes.
The visitors levelled swiftly through Daizen Maeda, but the prolific Erling Haaland added two more to his tally to put us 3-1 up with 20 minutes left to play.
Zian Flemming struck a late penalty for the Tractor Boys but we saw out the victory to make it seven wins in seven Premier League games, with Enzo Maresca becoming the first manager to achieve such a feat in the competition’s history.
And Foden believes the raucous backing of a record-breaking 60,817 strong City faithful at the Etihad was one of the keys to continuing our impressive winning run.
“The atmosphere was class today! I could feel the presence of the fans, pushing us on in every single way, and it was a great atmosphere!
“Today was just about getting the job done, no matter how we did it, it was obviously a difficult game. It’s just all about getting the three points.
“We try to just stick to our football, take it game by game. We’re still 100% focused on winning football games, and I think that’s how it has to be. The main focus is doing our job, and that’s all we can do.
“We’ve got a fantastic group of players that are willing to run for their teammates, and when you’ve got that you can go a long way.”
The Englishman got on the scoresheet for the first time since December 2025 and admitted he’s been craving that scoring feeling.
“I’ve been needing that goal for a long time!
“It can only do good now for my confidence.
My main focus is just about helping the team the best I can, and trying to do my job. “
