Salted, a physical data company, is teaming up with Dong-A ST to target the market for gait and balance analysis medical devices. The strategy pairs Salted's physical function assessment solution with Dong-A ST's hospital and clinic sales network to widen distribution among domestic medical institutions.
Salted said on the 20th that it had signed a distribution agreement with Dong-A ST covering domestic medical institutions for NeuroGait, its physical function assessment solution. Under the deal, Dong-A ST will handle sales and product supply to domestic medical institutions, while Salted will take charge of product development, clinical research and technical support.
NeuroGait uses pressure sensors built into a smart insole to measure and analyze gait, balance and plantar pressure. It converts a patient's body movements into quantitative data, helping clinicians assess physical function and changes before and after treatment. Salted plans to expand adoption at new medical institutions by tapping the hospital and clinic network Dong-A ST has built through its prescription drug business.
The company is also broadening its product lineup. In August, Salted completed a manufacturing filing with the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for NeuroGait Motion, which analyzes joint range of motion and whole-body movement using tablet camera footage. In June, it secured an exclusive license from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) for artificial intelligence technology that analyzes gait and balance based on smart insoles. Salted was a first-batch spinoff from C-Lab, Samsung Electronics' in-house venture program, and has been expanding its business around technology that measures and analyzes body movement.
"This agreement is a partnership that combines NeuroGait's physical function assessment technology with Dong-A ST's hospital and clinic business capabilities to grow our business in the domestic medical market," Salted CEO Cho Hyung-jin said. "Through research and development and clinical work, we will strengthen our technological competitiveness and create a new success case in linking the prescription drug business with digital medical devices."
