Bolt Kenya has launched a new subscription service, Bolt Plus, targeting regular users of the platform with benefits including up to 10 per cent cashback on rides.
With Bolt Plus, users of the ride-hailing and delivery service get three free cancellations every month, free delivery on eligible food and retail orders, priority driver matching, and faster food delivery.
Under the service, customers using the Bolt Basic category will get 5 per cent cashback, while those using the Bolt Premium, Comfort and Business categories will enjoy 10 per cent cashback.
According to Bolt, the cashback is automatically credited to a customer's Bolt Balance and can be redeemed on the next trip.
Bolt Plus costs Ksh280 per month and offers an annual subscription at Ksh899, equivalent to about Ksh75 per month.

The first month of subscription is free. To mark the launch, customers can also access Bolt Plus at an introductory rate of Ksh119 per month for the first six months, Bolt said.
“This is a way for Bolt to celebrate our loyal customers,” Ivy Njeri Maingi, the General Manager of Bolt Food Kenya, said.
According to Bolt, free delivery applies to eligible orders from selected restaurants and stores marked with a “+” in the app, within qualifying order-value ranges. Maingi said users could save up to Ksh200 per order.
“Members are matched with drivers faster, even during high-demand periods,” Bolt told Kenyans.co.ke.
With Bolt Plus, customers will receive promotions directly curated for them, including promotions, Bolt said.
Bolt said it expects the new service to drive subscriptions and encourage more use of its apps, potentially creating more earning opportunities for drivers and couriers through increased trips.
“Our riders, drivers and couriers are not affected by Bolt Plus service. Their earnings remain the same. In fact, they will earn more with more subscriptions and trips on the app. Bolt and our partners shoulder the costs of Bolt Plus,” Maingi said.
Bolt is also working on onboarding Bolt Business to the service.
