Mumbai: The investigation into the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff has taken a major turn, with Kota Police arresting three suspects while they were travelling by train, Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said.
The arrested men are reportedly from Haryana and Bihar, with two belonging to Haryana and the third to Bihar. They are accused of being involved in the shooting outside a football club in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening.
According to Mumbai Police, the incident occurred at around 7 pm as Shroff was leaving the venue in his car. The assailants allegedly fired at the vehicle, leaving the actor’s driver injured. Shroff escaped direct gunshot injuries, although Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde later said the actor had suffered injuries to his left hand from gunpowder and glass fragments.
Shinde visited the actor’s residence on Sunday night and said both Shroff and his mother, Ayesha Shroff, had been shaken by the incident. Assuring them of the government’s support, he warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible.
“Strict action will be taken, and threats against public figures will not be tolerated,” Shinde said.
Police Suspect Attack Was Planned in Advance
Investigators are examining whether the shooting was carried out after the accused tracked the actor’s routine over a period of time. Sources in the Mumbai Police Crime Branch said the suspects had allegedly conducted reconnaissance and knew that Shroff regularly visited a football ground in Juhu on Sundays.
The attackers are believed to have timed the shooting for when the actor was leaving the venue. After the incident, they allegedly travelled along SV Road through Vile Parle and Andheri before abandoning their motorcycle near Andheri West railway station.
They then reportedly boarded a train towards Borivali. Preliminary intelligence suggested that the suspects later crossed into another state while attempting to avoid arrest.
Security Increased Outside Salman Khan’s Home
The incident has also prompted heightened security outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra. Police personnel wearing bulletproof jackets and police vehicles were seen outside the actor’s home following the shooting.
The case has been registered under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
Further investigation is underway.
