Good morning everyone!
We have two quick tracks of the day for you today and monday while your hoddler-in-chief is travelling.
These two songs remind me of autumn. I listen to them year-round, but there’s something about the crankling of leaves underneath my feet.
Today we’re going with T. Rex.
There are some albums that stick with us forever. That frankly change us.
For me, Electric Warrior was one of those albums.
It was sometime in late 2016 or early 2017 where I popped into Sister Ray in London, just starting my record collection. I flipped through all these and settled on Electric Warrior, A Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, and a terrible remix of I heard It Through the Grapevine.
I’m sharing this record today because T. Rex only appear a couple of times in the TOTD playlist. I don’t like that. They’re one of my favourite groups.
And Electric Warrior is a record that changed me forever. There’d be no TOTD if it weren’t for this record. I think it’s one of the most important ones in my life. It opened new pathways to music that I never knew before, and unlocked connections to David Bowie, Ringo Starr and the Beatles, Def Leppard and more that I had never considered.
My copy of Electric Warrior is a little worn down by now. It’s the result of lots of love. Bang a Gong skips every now and then.
But that’s okay. It’ll remain one of my all-time favourite records ever. And one that shaped me.
