There's just no stopping Tom Holland right about now, is there? Having taken a brief acting hiatus following The Crowded Room's 2023 release, everyone's favourite friendly neighbourhood actor man has been making up for lost time of late. In 2026 alone he's starred in the summer's two biggest movies, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, started training for his long-gestating Fred Astaire biopic, and shot a World Cup ad with Lionel Messi. Now, Deadline is reporting that the in-demand Brit is lining up a starring role in Penthouse, an original thriller from The Fall Guy writer Drew Pearce.
Per Deadline, Sony Pictures has just snapped up the Pearce-penned thriller, a co-production from Holland's Billy17 and Pearce's Point Of No Return banners that's currently being developed as a Tom Holland star vehicle. For Pearce, whose past work includes co-written joints Iron Man 3 and Hobbs & Shaw, as well as the criminally underrated self-written and directed Hotel Artemis, Penthouse — whose plot details are currently being kept under lock and key — will follow his work on Michael B. Jordan's forthcoming The Thomas Crown Affair remake. As for Holland, presumably this project would come further down the line after his Fred Astaire movie and, one would suspect, next Christmas' Secret Wars, if indeed he appears in The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Doomsday follow-up.
While further details on Penthouse aren't forthcoming for now, the prospect of seeing Holland — who's shown real genre chops in the likes of The Devil All The Time and The Crowded Room before — back in thriller territory is a very exciting one, indeed. And given Pearce's long-since proven genre bona fides, Penthouse already sounds like it has the bones of a pretty suite movie. (Sorry, not sorry.)
