Netflix is launching a new K-pop girl group audition project centered on students at arts high schools.
The streaming company said it has confirmed production of "We Go High," a K-pop girl group audition program, and began recruiting contestants on the 21st.
"We Go High" features students who have pursued the arts while nurturing dreams of becoming singers. The program will follow accomplished arts high school students as they meet as rivals, competing and cooperating as they grow. Attention is focused on what synergy the contestants' passion and individuality will create together, and on whether a new girl group chosen by viewers through Netflix's global platform can emerge to take the world stage.
Applications are open to first- and second-year students at high schools with majors related to the arts or broadcasting, as well as those scheduled to enter in the 2027 academic year. Details on applying are available through Netflix Korea's official social media channels.
Park Jin-kyung and Lee Jae-seok, both PDs at Monstera House, will direct the show. The two have produced variety programs built on original concepts and fictional worlds. Expectations are high for what new format they will create by combining the setting of an arts high school with a K-pop audition.
A support framework has also been set up for the group's activities after it debuts through the program. Netflix and SM C&C signed a memorandum of understanding to support the group's continued growth and activities. The two companies plan to back the group's development and overall activities according to their respective roles after the program ends, and to cooperate so the group can compete on the global stage.
