The San Francisco 49ers are going to be without one of their top stars for a bit, as Deebo Samuel has suffered a right hamstring strain.
The expectation is that Samuel will miss multiple weeks because of his injury. Due to this, it would not be surprising if the 49ers looked to add another wide receiver to their roster between now and the trade deadline.
Now, the 49ers are being linked to a notable trade candidate because of it.
In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Gary Davenport named the 49ers the best potential landing spot for Jacksonville Jaguars star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. due to their injury trouble.

...
"The 49ers continue winning despite being hit by new injuries each and every week, and the wide receiver room hasn't been spared—Deebo Samuel Sr. suffered a hamstring injury last week that is expected to cost him multiple games. Mike Evans has also been battling a rib injury," Davenport wrote. "In San Francisco, Thomas wouldn't be expected to carry the wide receiver room. But with Evans and (eventually) Samuel drawing coverage away, he should also be able to get open with regularity."
Thomas would be a very interesting player for the 49ers to add to their roster. The 24-year-old would give the 49ers another Pro Bowl wide receiver, which would certainly benefit them as they deal with injury trouble. Furthermore, the three-year NFL veteran is young enough that he still could improve. Perhaps getting a fresh start with a top team like the 49ers could help him hit a new level.
Thomas has appeared in five games this season for Jacksonville, where he has posted one touchdown, nine receptions, and 105 receiving yards. He also most notably recorded 10 touchdowns, 87 receptions, and 1,282 receiving yards as a rookie in 2024. If he got back to this form, he would be a major pickup for a 49ers team that wants to win the Super Bowl.
