Caleb Williams missed the past three games with a hamstring injury, but the Chicago Bears franchise quarterback will make his return to the field in Week 6. Originally selected with the first-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the USC product was widely believed to be a generational prospect coming out of college. While he might not be on a Hall of Fame trajectory, the quarterback has been a godsend to the Chicago Bears. As a rookie, Williams completed 62.5% of his passes for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
Head coach Ben Johnson took over the organization in 2025 and Williams responded with another strong season, throwing for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while helping his team make the NFC Divisional Round. He got off to a similar hot start in 2026 but hurt his hamstring late against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. While he’s officially questionable for Week 6, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Caleb Williams will suit up and return against the Atlanta Falcons.
Caleb Williams Injury Update: Bears QB Will Play Week 6
The Last Word
It goes without saying that this is fantastic news for the Chicago Bears. While the team managed to go 2-1 in his absence, this team is at its best when Caleb Williams is on the field, and they should face a decent challenge in Week 6. While the Atlanta Falcons 2-3 record doesn’t look all that impressive, the team is 2-0 when Michael Penix starts and finishes the game. The fellow 2024 first-round pick should suit up for this one, and this game could have lasting playoff implications.
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears play in a competitive NFC North and currently sit in the basement of the division despite their winning record. Quite frankly, they can’t afford to take any additional losses if they want to repeat as NFC North champions. The Atlanta Falcons, meanwhile, play in the league’s worst division and are tied with the Carolina Panthers for the division lead.
