The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Sunday clarified that there was no increase in ticket prices this Dasara season.
The transport behemoth was responding reportedly to comments made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi legislator T. Harish Rao. The Deputy Floor Leader had stated that instead of extending some goodies to people during the Bathukamma and Dasara festivities, the government was collecting double fare from people travelling to villages by turning the regular buses as special services and reducing the number of regular services.

The TGSRTC stated that the fare during this Dasara festival season was determined by a 2003 government order. To accommodate the high volume of passengers traveling to their hometowns and to ensure they face no inconvenience, 7,000 additional buses were specially arranged. Since the 10th of this month, 97% of these additional services have been successfully operated, safely transporting passengers to their respective destinations.
The corporation also sought to clarify that the Mahalakshmi scheme which provides free rides to women has been implemented State-wide with lakhs of women as daily beneficiaries.
