One person has died following a crash in central Christchurch early this morning.
Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison said police were called at about 3.20am with reports that a car had collided with a tree near the intersection of Montreal and Armagh Streets.
“Sadly, the sole occupant of the vehicle was found deceased at the scene.”
The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit attended, and it reopened just after 7am.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
