A family have issued a plea for help after a Scottish woman fell from the balcony of her hotel in Greece while on holiday.
Denby McLaren, from Larkhall, was celebrating her 30th birthday in Rhodes with her mum, Sharon, when she plunged from the third-floor balcony of their hotel.
According to loved ones, she has been left with severe injuries, including a broken vertebra and multiple broken bones in her foot.
On October 9, her family said she had spent four days in hospital, and funds are being raised for specialist repatriation by air ambulance to bring her home to Scotland.
A GoFundMe has already raised more than £11,300 to support her and her family.
Loved ones wrote: “It is impossible to put into words the fear, heartbreak and uncertainty that Denby and our family are experiencing right now. In a matter of moments, everything changed, and we are now facing a situation none of us could ever have prepared for.
“Our biggest wish is simple: we just want to bring Denby home.
“For Denby to return safely to Scotland, she requires specialist repatriation by air ambulance, travelling on a stretcher with medical assistance throughout the journey. This comes with significant costs that we were completely unprepared for, adding another layer of worry to an already devastating situation.
“We want nothing more than for Denby to be back on home soil, surrounded by her family, where she can receive the ongoing medical care and treatment she needs and begin the long road to recovery with her loved ones by her side.
“Right now, being able to get her home safely is our greatest priority. No one ever expects something like this to happen to someone they love, and the emotional and financial strain has been overwhelming.”
