KUALA LUMPUR: Girls' doubles shuttler Low Zi Yu finally struck gold at the World Junior Championships after two successive final heartbreaks.
Zi Yu with partner Genevie Lim defeated Japan's Nijika Kamata–Shizuku Kashio 15-7, 9-15, 15-12 in the final at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt on Saturday.
The triumph was third time lucky for Zi Yu, who finished runners-up with Dania Sofea Zaidi in 2024 and Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan last year.
Malaysia's most recent World Junior Champions were Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing, who won the boys' doubles title in 2024.
