According to SPORT, Barcelona may have to pay at least €12 million to sign Arthur Dias, with the Athletico Paranaense defender emerging as a potential target as the Catalan club continues searching for a left-footed centre-back.
The 19-year-old Brazilian has attracted attention with his performances in his homeland, putting himself on the radar of clubs looking for young defensive talent with the potential to develop into a first-team regular.
Barcelona are among the sides monitoring his progress, but his rising valuation could complicate any attempt to secure an affordable deal.
Notably, Sporting director Deco has been assessing options to strengthen Barcelona’s defence, particularly on the left side of central defence.
The club did not find the right signing during the previous summer window, leaving the search for a suitable long-term option open.
Why Barcelona want Arthur Dias
Arthur’s appeal lies in the combination of his age, defensive potential and left-footed profile.
Barcelona are looking beyond an immediate fix at centre-back, as they also need players who can grow into important roles over the coming seasons.

Indeed, Gerard Martín’s performances have given Barcelona an option in defence, but the club’s continued interest in this market suggests they still want greater depth and competition on the left side of central defence.
Arthur is therefore being considered as a potential long-term investment rather than an established solution expected to transform the back line immediately.
The financial question is whether Barcelona believe his development justifies the reported minimum €12 million fee.
Arthur Dias transfer: €12m price tag meets European ambition
Arthur has acknowledged interest from clubs without committing himself to a move.
Speaking about speculation over his future, the Brazilian made clear that his immediate priority remains Athletico Paranaense.

“In any case, right now I’m fully focused and concentrated on Athletico. I leave those matters to my agent,” he said.
He also welcomed the attention while recognising the role of his current team in his progress.
“I’m very happy that there are clubs interested in me. That means I’m doing a good job on the pitch, but I always say that without my teammates and coaches I wouldn’t be where I am.
“Of course, my aim is to win trophies and develop as a player, but I’m very happy here,” he noted.
For Barcelona, the next step is to decide whether to pursue the Brazilian at Athletico’s asking price or continue evaluating alternatives.
Arthur’s ambition to reach the Champions League aligns with Barça’s appeal, but his future remains unresolved, as any transfer will depend on negotiations, the club’s budget and whether Deco considers the €12 million investment worthwhile.
