College football moves into Week 8 this weekend. As we have throughout the season, we continue our look at potential draft prospects the Miami Dolphins might consider from one game on the schedule. Today, we move into the Big XII, taking a closer look at Iowa State and Arizona.
The Dolphins are undergoing a complete rebuild this year and will have many roster needs in the 2027 NFL Draft. They will likely select early in the first round, but the draft is about more than just the first pick. Today’s who to watch takes a look at several players who may be day two or day three options, or could be players signed as n undrafted free agents.
Iowa State 2027 Draft prospects
Jaylen Raynor, quarterback (Senior) – Raynor started 36 games at Arkansas State before moving to Iowa State for his senior season this year. Raynor is a mobile quarterback who can use his legs to extend passing plays or take off as a runner. He threw for 2,261 yards and 19 touchdowns last year, and he also rushed for 423 yards and 7 touchdowns. This year, he has 1,001 passing yards and 7 touchdowns, plus 166 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns in six games. He needs to tighten up his mechanics and accuracy, but his improvisation skills could make him an intriguing option on day three.
Isaac Terrell, edge (Senior) – Terrell moved to Iowa State this year after starting his college football career at Washington State. He has proven he can disrupt the backfield and win one-on-one matchups on passing downs through sheer effort. He was a solid edge setter at Washington State, but he will need to prove he can stay effective this season. He needs to add additional pass-rush moves to his repertoire. In the NFL, he is an early depth option who can develop into a starter; probably a day three pick or undrafted free agent signing.
Maasai King, tackle (Redshirt senior) – Playing right tackle for Iowa State, King has the strength and technique to continue developing in the NFL. At 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, he may need to kick inside to guard, but his experience at tackle could keep him in consideration for a swing tackle role. He needs to prove he can handle speed rushers, and he could improve his hand placement to increase his draft profile. He is likely an undrafted free agent who could slide into the late rounds by the end of the year.
Omari Hayes, wide receiver (Redshirt senior) – At 5’9 “, 170 pounds, Hayes is a slot receiver with good hands who can continue to develop his route-running. He uses his quickness to create separation and can turn short passes into bigger gains with his yards-after-catch ability. He is likely a camp receiver who can find a place on a practice squad or as a depth player with special teams ability early in his career.
Ty Claiborne, wide receiver (Redshirt senior) – Behind Hayes on the Iowa State depth chart, Claiborne offers a different skill set. At 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, he offers a bigger target to the offense and plays more like a possession receiver than a quick slot receiver. He can move into different roles and could become a boundary option with further development. He probably an undrafted free agent who can come into camp and fight for a roster spot.
Arizona 2027 Draft prospects
Noah Fifita, quarterback (Redshirt senior) – Fifita is a pocket passer with the mobility to avoid pressure and extend plays. He has touch and accuracy in his throws and reads well. His biggest issue is his size. At 5-foot-10, he has throwing lane issues and he has to compensate for that. He may not have the strongest arm in the class, but he does throw with anticipation that could offset some of the concerns. He is probably an undrafted free agent who could catch on as a practice squad, developmental quarterback.
Taye Brown, linebacker (Senior) – Brown is not afraid to tackle. He recorded 93 tackles last season and has 39 this year through six games. He will put his nose in there and bring down the ball carrier. He has to prove that he is more than just a tackler, though. His coverage ability on tight ends will be an important part of his analysis this year, and he has to prove he can shed blocks and force a play into the teeth of the defense rather than just cleaning up when the play comes to him. He is a special teams player who can turn his raw tackling ability into a depth linebacker role early in the NFL; likely a day-three target.
Cam Chapa, safety (Junior) – A transfer from Northern Colorado this year, Chapa led the Big Sky in tackles in 2025, and he has continued to show he can be a force as a free safety for Arizona this year. He has 28 tackles and an interception in 2026. He has good range at center field and closes well on the ball in the air. He is not afraid to step up into the box and assist against the run. He needs to keep proving he can succeed in the Big XII for his draft profile to rise, and a return to Arizona for the 2027 season would not be a surprise; if he declares, Chapa could be a day-three steal with further development.
Jay’Vion Cole, cornerback (Redshirt senior) – Cole’s collegiate career began at Cal Poly in 2022, then moved to San Jose State in 2023, to Texas in 2024, and finally settled at Arizona for 2025 and 2026. He is a strong zone-coverage cornerback who goes up and gets the ball, but he gets washed off the ball in run defense. He needs to prove his man-coverage skills, especially on double moves, but he has the potential to be a good outside option who can also kick inside as a nickel cornerback. He is probably a day three prospect.
Tristan Bounds, tackle (Redshirt senior (sixth year)) – Bounds was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA after a leg injury ended his 2025 season early. He spent his first four years at Michigan before moving to Arizona last year, where he played 10 games with eight starts. At 6-foot-8and 320 pounds, Bounds has the size to play tackle in the NFL. He is probably a depth option who can continue to work his way into being a day three draft target.
