BUSAN — Youngsan University's Department of Beauty and Health Care has produced a string of graduates who passed the Master Craftsman exam in beauty care, the most prestigious national technical certification in the field, reaffirming its standing as a specialized training institution.
Lee Young-sun, who graduated in 2023, and Choi Sook-im, who graduated in 2025, both recently passed the final round of the Master Craftsman beauty care exam, the university said on the 14th.
The achievement is notable because it came not from short-term exam cramming but from a long-term program in which the university and the students worked together for about three years, from their time on campus through the years after graduation. Both women set the certification as a goal while still enrolled and continued honing their practical skills after they left.
Beyond the regular curriculum, the department has run step-by-step hands-on programs, including a special Master Craftsman preparation class, extracurricular lectures and coaching for beauty competitions. Professor Lee Young-hee, who mentored both graduates, led individual close instruction and repeated drills for more than three years, tailored to an exam that demands advanced practical technique and precision.
"I am glad that a challenge I began as a student bore fruit after graduation," Lee Young-sun said. "The professor who kept me from giving up and the department's systematic training programs were a great source of strength."
"I am proud of my students, who did not give up over three long years and honed their skills until they achieved results," Professor Lee Young-hee said. "We will continue to spare no support in training highly skilled beauty professionals who can step straight into the workplace."
Following the latest results, the Department of Beauty and Health Care plans to further expand its care system for strengthening students' professional skills, covering both those still enrolled and those who have graduated.
