The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, appeared in the ACT Children's Court on Friday, October 23, wearing a cast on his arm.
He did not apply for bail and is yet to enter pleas to one count each of intentionally wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
Police allege that about 10.20am on Thursday, the boy approached another student at Lanyon High School.
The boy allegedly punched the student in the head before punching him several more times.
He is said to have then pulled out a 20 to 30-centimetre knife and threatened him.

Police allege the 14-year-old "lunged" towards the other boy and stabbed the student in the hand before throwing the knife at his head as he ran away.
The boy was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The 14-year-old ran away from the scene before handing himself in at City Police Station about 9.00pm that evening, where he was arrested.
Police said the boy was on bail for unrelated offences at the time of the alleged stabbing.
His case will return to court next week when he is expected to apply for bail.
