KLANG: Police found no explosives or suspicious devices at a supermarket along Jalan Kapar here following an email claiming that such materials had been planted on the premises.
North Klang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol said police received a report at 4.04pm today from a male store manager who had received the email.
He said police inspected the premises with assistance from the K9 sniffer dog unit, the Selangor police contingent headquarters' bomb disposal unit, the fire and rescue department and the Klang civil defence department.
"After an inspection lasting nearly three hours, police and the assisting teams found no explosives or suspicious devices as claimed in the email," he said in a statement today.
Ramsay said the case was being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code, which concerns criminal intimidation by anonymous communication and carries a penalty of up to two years' imprisonment upon conviction.
He advised the public against using email or other forms of communication to spread information that could threaten public order and cause fear in the community.
Anyone with information on the case can contact the North Klang district police headquarters at 03-32919614 or the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Fazlan Rezza Mazlan, at 011-10561017.
Earlier, several social media posts went viral claiming that a supermarket in Klang had been closed following the discovery of a bomb on the premises.
