Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has clarified that his cross-party alliance targeting over 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election is strictly limited to the presidential race, while his total support for legislative elections remains with the Accord Party.
Adeleke said a coalition involving the Accord Party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was working together solely to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
He stressed that this cooperation stops at the presidential ballot, maintaining his full backing for Accord Party candidates in Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly races.
The governor disclosed this in a post on X on Friday, following the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election.
“Our rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP is united solely for President Tinubu’s re-election in the January 2027 presidential election.
“This partnership does not extend to the legislative elections,” he wrote.
Adeleke also provided an update on the Osun local government crisis, saying negotiations were at an advanced stage and that he had received assurances from the federal government.
“On the Osun local government crisis, negotiations are at an advanced stage. I have received the assurance of the Federal Government, and there will be positive developments soon,” he said.
The governor urged residents to unite across political differences, saying the state needed collective efforts to secure a prosperous future.
“From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future. Together, let us mobilise and deliver Osun for President Tinubu,” he added.
