The Court of Appeal has postponed until October 22 the delivery of its order on petitions seeking permission to intervene in a case filed by former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Suresh Salley, challenging his arrest and detention by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The case relates to Salley’s arrest and detention in connection with ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
The Court of Appeal was scheduled to deliver its order on the intervention petitions today (14). However, the bench announced that the order would instead be delivered on October 22.
The intervention petitions were filed by several Buddhist monks, including Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, and voluntary organisations.
The petitioners have sought permission to intervene and make submissions in the case filed by Salley challenging the legality of his arrest and detention. (Newswire)
