What will it take for cleaner transport to become an everyday choice for more Nigerians? Beyond the vehicles themselves, the answer involves affordable financing, reliable energy, accessible infrastructure, skilled people and consumer confidence.
These priorities will shape the Nigeria Electric Mobility & Energy Summit, NEMES 2026, taking place in Lagos from 11 to 13 November 2026. Convened by The Licht Advisory Group, the programme will bring together policymakers, financial institutions, investors, vehicle manufacturers and assemblers, mobility operators, energy providers, researchers and the public to explore how Nigeria can translate sustainable mobility ambitions into practical opportunities.
NEMES is designed as a market activation platform, connecting policy, capital, industry solutions and public engagement. Its agenda will examine electric mobility alongside complementary transition solutions, including CNG, with attention to charging infrastructure, clean energy integration, local assembly, productive asset financing and workforce development.
At its heart is a practical concern: a mobility transition must work for the people and businesses expected to adopt it. For a commercial driver, that may mean access to financing and dependable servicing. For a fleet operator, it may mean understanding operating costs and charging requirements. For a state government, it means identifying the policies, infrastructure and partnerships needed to attract investment and support deployment.
One programme. Three distinct experiences.
The three day programme will take the conversation from the summit floor to the streets, creating different ways for stakeholders and the public to participate.
11 November: Summit & Exhibition
The opening day will bring policy, finance and industry perspectives together to examine the conditions needed for wider adoption. Discussions will explore affordability, infrastructure, energy reliability, investment readiness and industrial development. Alongside these conversations, the exhibition will give participating organisations an opportunity to present their mobility, energy and technology solutions and engage prospective customers and partners.
12 November: Electric Mobility Roadshow
The programme will move into public view through a coordinated roadshow featuring participating partners’ vehicles. The roadshow is intended to make electric mobility more visible and familiar, extending engagement beyond the summit audience.
13 November: Public Advocacy & Consumer Engagement
Planned activities in Marina, Lagos, will focus on the questions consumers ask before considering a different way to travel: Where would I charge? What does maintenance involve? How affordable is ownership? Would it suit my daily journeys or business? Through accessible information and direct engagement, the programme will help participants better understand the opportunities and practical considerations around adoption.
A national conversation with a state level perspective
A central initiative associated with NEMES is the Subnational Sustainable Mobility Readiness Report & Index, being developed to assess readiness across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The initiative covers six areas: policy, infrastructure, investment readiness, workforce capacity, adoption and clean energy integration. It is intended to help state governments understand their readiness gaps, prioritise interventions and position credible mobility opportunities for potential partners.
Its value extends beyond comparative rankings. The report aims to make readiness easier to interpret, showing where enabling conditions exist, where further work is needed and how evidence can inform investment and implementation decisions.
For businesses and investors, it seeks to provide a clearer picture of local opportunities and constraints.
Building relationships that continue beyond November.
Led by Adeola Bukoye, Principal Convener, NEMES 2026 forms part of a broader effort to support sustained collaboration through investment facilitation, green jobs and workforce development, women’s participation in sustainable mobility, and consumer education.
The ambition is to create a useful meeting point between those shaping policy, those financing and delivering solutions, and those who will use them. Progress will depend on the relationships developed, the practical questions addressed and the opportunities taken forward after the programme.
An invitation to help shape what comes next
NEMES says it welcomes delegates, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, institutional partners and media organisations interested in contributing to Nigeria’s sustainable mobility transition.
Whether the contribution is a technology, a financing solution, technical expertise or a public education partnership, the programme is said to offer a platform to engage relevant stakeholders and participate in a growing national conversation with practical commercial and social significance.
