Coimbatore’s popular tourism spot Kovai Courtallam will remain open to visitors on October 19 (Monday) in view of the long festival holidays from October 17 to 20. The waterfall situated in a reserve forest area of the Boluvampatti range is normally closed for maintenance on Mondays.
The Forest Department, which manages entry to Kovai Courtallam, stated that the waterfall will be closed for maintenance on October 21.
A senior officer from the Department said the waterfall received heavy footfall on the weekend. The inflow of visitors was expected to continue on Monday and Tuesday.
The Department stated that its elephant camp at Chadivayal will also remain open to visitors during the permitted hours as usual. Visitors are allowed to the camp in the morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and in the evening from 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Entry fees fixed by the Department are applicable.
