Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has played down speculation that the German champions could move for Erling Haaland if Manchester City are relegated from the Premier League over their ongoing financial charges case.
Hainer said Bayern already had enough attacking options and was not looking to strengthen its forward line immediately, despite uncertainty surrounding City’s future.
Speaking to German newspaper BILD on Sunday, Hainer was asked whether Bayern would consider signing the Norwegian striker if City were forced out of the English top flight.
“We have Kane, Olise, Diaz and more. We scored over 120 goals last season. So, I think we are very well equipped in attack,” he said.
Bayern’s current attacking options include England captain Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz. Hainer’s comments suggest the club does not consider Haaland’s potential availability an immediate priority.
However, the Bayern president did not completely rule out a future move, indicating that the club could reassess its options when circumstances change.
“If we’re talking about the future in a few years, then there will be a new situation, and we’ll see,” he added.
Haaland’s future has attracted attention amid the uncertainty surrounding Manchester City’s financial case. The club could face severe sanctions, including relegation, depending on the outcome of the proceedings and any appeal.
However, no relegation decision has been confirmed, and Hainer’s remarks offer no indication that Bayern are preparing an immediate bid for the prolific striker.
