By Breaking Belize News Staff: New details have emerged about how missing Police Constable Kenyon Barrow was located in Orange Walk on Thursday, October 22, after disappearing for more than a month.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stacy Smith, Staff Officer of the Belize Police Department, revealed during Thursday’s police press briefing that Barrow was identified on surveillance footage at a location he was known to frequent before his disappearance.
According to Smith, officers were immediately dispatched to the location and successfully located the missing constable.
Although Barrow appeared to be in relatively good physical condition, Smith said he was receiving medical attention as a precaution.
Barrow was reported missing on September 18 and had been the subject of an extensive search operation involving police officers, Belize Defence Force personnel and community volunteers.
During Thursday’s briefing, journalists also questioned Smith about Barrow’s employment status within the Belize Police Department, particularly since authorities had previously reported that he had abandoned his post.
Smith explained that established departmental procedures would determine how the employment matter is addressed but stressed that Barrow’s health and well-being remain the immediate priority.
She indicated that the department was prepared to provide whatever assistance the constable required during his recovery.
Smith also confirmed that investigators have not established where Barrow remained throughout his disappearance or whether he had left Belize during that period.
Further inquiries will be conducted once he has received the necessary medical attention.
The police department thanked everyone who assisted in the search, including members of the public who offered prayers and support.
Smith expressed particular relief for Barrow’s mother and family, noting that they could now rest easier knowing he had been located safely.
