The life verification process is underway in Bihar to ensure the regular disbursement of pensions to beneficiaries under social security pension schemes and to maintain transparency in the distribution system.
According to data from the Department of Social Welfare, life verification has been completed for 88.37% of pensioners. Out of a total of 1,16,71,188 beneficiaries, verification has been completed for 1,03,13,620. However, life verification for 13,57,568 beneficiaries is still pending.
The department has urged the remaining beneficiaries to complete their verification at the earliest so that the records of all eligible pensioners can be verified within the stipulated time.
Pensioners must submit an annual life certificate by November 30 each year to prevent pension payments from being suspended.

The other districts which have completed the verification of beneficiaries are: Patna with 4,91,125 beneficiaries, East Champaran 4,85,930, Muzaffarpur 4,62,294, Samastipur 4,35,744.
Patna ranks first in terms of the total number of beneficiaries enrolled under social security pension schemes. The district has 6,17,153 pensioners followed by Madhubani with 5,88,855 beneficiaries, East Champaran: 5,66,316, Muzaffarpur: 5,20,559, Gaya: 5,07,191.
The department has appealed to all remaining beneficiaries to complete their life verification as soon as possible in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
“The State government is committed to providing financial support to senior citizens, widowed women and persons with disabilities through social security pension schemes. Completing the life verification process is essential to verify beneficiary records and maintain transparency in the pension distribution system,” Social Welfare Department Minister Dr. Shweta Gupta told the media on Wednesday (October 21, 2026).
She further said, “Beneficiaries whose life verification is still pending should complete their verification as soon as possible in accordance with the prescribed procedure. The department is making every effort to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of this process due to a lack of necessary information.”
