Sevilla have expressed their frustration with the refereeing in their 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid, using social media to highlight three decisions that they believe went against them at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The La Liga club’s anger centres on an alleged elbow by Arda Guler on Peque, a possible foul by Ibrahima Konate on Robbie Ure before Kylian Mbappe’s second goal, and a disputed penalty awarded to the French forward.
The incidents have fuelled a post-match dispute, with Sevilla using their official social media channels to voice their discontent.
Sevilla highlight Guler incident and disputed penalty
The most contentious moment for Sevilla came when Guler appeared to elbow Peque during the first half, with the score still at 0-0.
The incident went unpunished, prompting complaints from Sevilla players and manager Luis Garcia Plaza after the match.
Sevilla’s match report reflected the club’s frustration, carrying the pointed title ‘Elbow and that’s it’. The wording placed the disputed incident at the centre of its account of the 4-1 defeat.
The club also questioned the decision to award a penalty to Mbappe, adding another flashpoint to a match in which Real Madrid ultimately secured a comfortable scoreline.
Sevilla use social media to mock broadcast coverage
Sevilla’s frustration spilled onto social media, where they shared images from Movistar+ and posted sarcastic comments about the incidents.
One message was particularly pointed: “With the Prado so close and you go to the one famous for robberies…”
The post used irony to express the account’s anger over the decisions.
Sevilla also questioned the coverage of the possible foul by Konate on Ure before Mbappe’s second goal, suggesting viewers had not been shown the entire sequence clearly enough.
“Can you rewind 18 seconds? We’d like to see the whole play,” was the first.
A second post followed with another dig at the timing of the footage: “Wow… More than three hours later! You were faster on X than on the broadcast,” said the second.
Both messages focused on the disputed challenge in the build-up to Madrid’s goal, with Sevilla’s supporters demanding a fuller examination of the sequence.
