It's Week 8 of the 2026 Iowa high school football season, and all seven teams from the Ames area will be in action on Oct. 16.
Ames will try and rebound from a loss at Class 5A No. 4 Ankeny when the Little Cyclones host another top-10 team in No. 7 Dallas Center-Grimes. It will be the final home game of the season for Ames.
Ballard, the No. 7 team in 4A, will be going for its sixth win in a row when the Bombers host Bondurant-Farrar in 4A District 5 play. Gilbert, coming off a tough 21-14 home loss to Ballard, goes to Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines to face Des Moines North in another 4A District 5 affair.
Nevada is hosting 3A No. 3 Des Moines Christian in 3A District 5 competition and Roland-Story wraps up 2A District 4 play with a road game at Oelwein. Both Colo-NESCO and Collins-Maxwell wrap up 8-player District 6 play this week as the Royals travel to Garwin to face GMG and the Spartans host Clarksville.
