Suzy’s reported move into one of Seoul’s most exclusive buildings has backfired with Korean netizens.

According to Korean media, the idol-turned-actress recently signed a sales contract at L’ARBRE 27, an ultra-luxury residential development in Gangnam, Seoul, where units have reportedly sold for prices in the ₩40.0 billion KRW (about $30.2 million USD) range.

While the exact price of Suzy’s unit hasn’t been disclosed, that figure alone was enough to set off heated reactions among netizens. Stunned by the sheer scale of the price, many pointed out that sums like these are far beyond anything an ordinary person could ever afford, criticizing the Korean entertainment industry for paying celebrities too much.

- “Even 4 billion won is expensive, but 40 billion… shudder”
- “40 billion won? lol They really do live in a world of their own…”
- “Don’t post articles like this.”
- “Being a celebrity really is a cushy job, that’s for sure.”
- “Celebrity pay seriously needs to be reined in…”
Currently under construction, L’ARBRE 27 is designed around privacy for a small number of residents. Garden houses in the two-building residence start at ₩26.0 billion KRW (about $19.6 million USD), while terrace houses start at ₩14.0 billion KRW (about $10.6 million USD).

If Suzy moves in, she’ll be rubbing shoulders with neighbors like actress Shin Se Kyung, actor Jang Keun Suk, and BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo, who have also purchased units.
