Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has completed the script for his 10th film but is in no hurry to begin work on the project, saying he wants to focus on his play before deciding his next move.
The Pulp Fiction director had previously said he plans to retire from directing after his 10th feature film.
During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the filmmaker confirmed that he had finished writing the script but said his immediate focus was on his play The Popinjay Cavalier, which will conclude on June 13, 2027.
“I’ve written a script that I really like, but I want to do the play and see who I am; then I’ll then go back and spend time with my family and live a little and then see what I want to do,” he said, according to entertainment news outlet Variety.
The Popinjay Cavalier is a swashbuckling comedy and French farce set in 1830s Europe. Directed by Tarantino, the play features actor Sacha Baron Cohen.
Tarantino’s last directorial venture Once Upon a Time in Hollywood released in 2019 and featured Hollywood stars Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, among others.
The film earned more than USD 400 million at the global box office.
A spinoff to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood directed by David Fincher is set to release later this year. Brad Pitt stars as stuntman Cliff Booth in the film titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. It will get a two-week global IMAX run starting November 25 before beginning streaming on Netflix on December 23.
