The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls, 2027, with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date.
In a press release, District Election Officer and Collector S. Kandasamy said the exercise aimed to ensure that all eligible voters, including young people and those qualifying to vote for the first time, were included in the electoral rolls, while excluding ineligible persons.
The rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will be completed by November 2, 2026, and the integrated draft electoral roll will be published on November 12.
The period for filing claims and objections will be from November 12 to December 11. The claims and objections will be disposed of by December 28, and the final electoral roll will be published on January 4, 2027. The revision is being undertaken under Article 324 of the Constitution and Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the release said.
