Slow Horses fans, listen up! As season six comes to a heart-racing end, five new cast members are joining the fray for season seven. Here’s everything you need to know about the next two instalments.
It’s been yet another explosive series of Slow Horses, and the return of Sid (Olivia Cooke) has sparked more twists and turns for the team at Slough House. Ahead of the season finale, which is ominously titled Judgement Day and lands on Apple TV on Wednesday 21 October, we’ll finally get to see if and how River and Sid escape their Russian enemies.
But as yet another gripping series comes to a close, we’re obviously looking ahead at the next instalments – which, luckily, have already been confirmed with a season seven and eight, as per the books penned by Mick Herron. But what’s in store for us loyal fans, and who might be bringing the next chapters of the story to life? Read on for everything you need to know about the next two series.
Who will star in Slow Horses season 7?
It’s going to be an exciting seventh season, as the new chapter marks the arrival of five new cast members: Tuppence Middleton (Downton Abbey: A New Era), Varada Sethu (Doctor Who), Ethan Moorhouse (MobLand), Merab Ninidze (Homeland) and Joshua McGuire (The Gentlemen).
After appearing in the sixth season as Vassily Rasnokov, we can assume that Ninidze will be reprising his role as KGB spymaster, but for now, the rest of the new cast’s roles are yet to be revealed. The newbies will also be joining Gary Oldman and James Callis, who returns as former MI5 First Desk agent Claude Whelan, who left at the end of season five.
Meanwhile, the jury’s still out on whether the wider returning cast – including Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Joanna Scanlan and Olivia Cooke – will return. We’ll have to tune into the finale to see who makes it out alive.

What will happen in Slow Horses season 7?
Season seven of the hit spy drama is based on Mick Herron’s eighth novel, Bad Actors, which follows Lamb and his Slow Horses as they hunt to find and neutralise a mole at the heart of the British government before they can bring down the state.
“Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humour and high-octane action. I’m delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses’ slightly inept spycraft,” said Jay Hunt, creative director, international, at Apple TV.

What will happen in Slow Horses season 8?
But that’s not all. Fans will be pleased to know that the show will continue into an eighth series, featuring another six episodes that will be adapted from Clown Town, the ninth novel in Mick Herron’s series. While the full cast has yet to be confirmed, Apple TV has assured that Gary Oldman will be at the helm.
This time, season eight sees Lamb and Taverner face off in their most explosive confrontation yet. When a botched attempt to blackmail the Park puts Taverner on the offensive, it’s up to Lamb to unravel one of MI5’s darkest secrets and put an end to it once and for all.
Announcing the future series, Apple TV’s Hunt said: “Slow Horses continues to charm audiences all around the world, and I’m delighted that Jackson Lamb and his gang of lovable misfits will be back for an eighth season.”
