This week, the great and good of the art world descended on Regent’s Park for the VIP preview of Frieze. Hundreds of galleries unveiled their immaculately curated booths before a discerning audience comprising mega-collectors, scenesters and a fair few stars, too. Fashion week may be in the rear view, but Frieze week is its own kind of street-style moment.
An amble around the giant marquees on opening day is an opportunity to spot some of the most directional dressers in town – most of them power players in the worlds of art, fashion and film whose looks are perfect distillations of their cultural cachet. This year was no exception, with the like of Tilda Swinton – seen here in an exquisite Chanel bouclé jacket – and Bianca Jagger, who gave perhaps the chicest IRL sighting of John Galliano’s Zara collection yet, among the VIPs in attendance.
Not forgetting the curators, gallerists and the artists themselves, including Emanuela Tarizzo (director of Frieze Masters) and Eva Langret (director of Frieze EMEA), buzzy rising painter Okiki Akinfe, and London gallerists Maureen Paley and Sadie Coles, all of whom caught the eye of photographer Frederike Helwig on the day.
