Drew Peterson is a free agent again.
Ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls announced that they have waived the former Boston Celtics forward.
Peterson went undrafted in 2023 after five collegiate seasons at Rice and USC. He played for the Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Summer League and joined their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, to start the 2023-24 season. Peterson then signed a two-way contract with the Celtics in December 2023.
Peterson appeared in three games with the Celtics in 2023-24 and played 25 games in 2024-25, averaging 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per game.

The 6-foot-8 forward was part of Boston's 2024 championship team that defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals, earning his first NBA title. He also helped the Maine Celtics make their first G League Finals appearance in 2024.
"I'm trying to help be a primary ball handler for the team," Peterson said after his runs to the NBA and G League Finals. "Depending on who is here and who is not, I'm going to have to fill a multitude of roles. Boston expects me to be able to play four different positions on the court, so I'm looking to help in any way that I can."
Peterson signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets for the 2025-26 season. The Hornets waived him in December 2025.
The Libertyville, Illinois native signed a training-camp contract with the Bulls ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Peterson holds career averages of 2.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists, while shooting 36.5 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from 3-point range.
Peterson will now look for his next opportunity.
