As the Jaguars prepare to play their second straight game in London, they have an opportunity to do something they haven’t done in 27 years — start the year 5-1.
The Jaguars last started 5-1 in 1999. That year, they finished 14-2 and lost in the AFC Championship, to the Titans.
This year, Jacksonville has a chance (thanks to the division it’s in) to win enough games to secure the No. 1 seed. The next test is a big one, however.
The Texans have done well against the Jaguars in recent years. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has a 3-7 record against the Texans, with eight touchdown passes and 11 interceptions in those games. Via NBC Sports research, no player since Lawrence’s rookie season has thrown more interceptions against a single opponent than Lawrence against the Texans.
The Texans, meanwhile, have a 15-5 record in division games since DeMeco Ryans became the head coach. In those games, quarterback C.J. Stroud has a record of 12-5, with 24 touchdown passes and five interceptions.
