Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei wide-out Gavin Honore has committed to Oregon State and broke down why he chose the Beavers.
We had Honore on commitment watch the minute he set up the official visit to Corvallis. Honore and his Monarch teammates played a Thursday night game so he was able to start his visit on Friday and committed last night.
“It’s a great fit for me,” Honore said. “I’m so thankful for the opportunity and love everything about the school. It’s not just football but the coaching staff really cares about the players and wants them to succeed on and off the field.
“From a football standpoint, I love the offense and what Coach Shep (Jamarcus Shephard) is building here. He’s creating a ton of buzz for the Oregon State program right now and the best is yet to come.”
Oregon State has one of the most prolific passing offenses in the country right now as well and Honore love the scheme fit.
“I’m very excited to play in this offense,” Honore said. “It’s quarterback- and wide receiver-friendly, and they put a lot of points on the board. It’s an offense that knows how to get guys open down the field and I can’t wait to get going.
“They feel I’ll be able to move around and make plays from the slot and different parts of the field. Coach (James) Finley (WR Coach) is a great coach and a great guy and I’m just really grateful for how everything worked out for me.”
