Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) has today started celebrating 150 years of establishment.
The synod’s general secretary (GS) Anderson Juma said they had lined up activities to mark the anniversary.
He said the celebrations would begin with a tour of their historical structures and other structures of interest, with Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor George Partridge serving as the main guest.
Juma said Christians would Saturday have a Jesus March around Blantyre, where State Vice President Jane Ansah will be the guest of honour.
“During the march, the word of God will also be shared,” he said.
Juma said other activities would be announced in due course.
The synod was established in October 1876 by Scottish missionary Henry Henderson.
It was then named Blantyre, after the birthplace of another reverend missionary, Dr David Livingstone, in Scotland.
