THE RUNDOWN
- Kate Middleton secretly filmed a video yesterday, the same day Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did their first joint event since moving back to the U.K.
- Kate announced a new project for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in the clip released this morning.
- Kensington Palace confirmed Kate was in Cornwall yesterday afternoon, where she filmed the video and took portraits.
While Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appeared in Nottingham yesterday for their first joint public event since moving back to the U.K., Kate Middleton remained out of the public eye. But she was secretly working, too. The Princess of Wales just released the video she filmed yesterday on her and Prince William’s Instagram.
In the clip, which was shot in Cornwall, the Princess of Wales announced a new project for the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which will explore “how nature, creativity, and relationships can best support the healthy development of babies and young children,” she said.
Per Kensington Palace, Kate was in Cornwall yesterday “to learn more about the potential of nature-based learning in the earliest years of life and to announce a new project from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, working with The Duchy of Cornwall as a founding partner.” Her husband, William, runs the Duchy of Cornwall estate, which he inherited from his father, King Charles III.
Kate said in her video, “New scientific research increasingly shows just how important nature is for our physical and psychological wellbeing. Nature is such an extraordinary environment for us all, and in this tech-driven, digital age, spending quality time outdoors has never been more important. This project is about exploring how nature, creativity, and relationships can best support the healthy development of babies and young children. We believe that taking a whole-child approach is important, and nature becomes a wonderful place to explore how we can successfully nurture their social and emotional skills—the skills that underpin lifelong health and wellbeing. My hope is that through this practical, nature-based research, we can build supportive environments that help make nature more accessible, benefiting babies, young children, and their families across the U.K.”
In addition to the video, photographer Josh Shinner also took portraits of Kate in the woods.

While only Kate appeared in the video and photos, William was there, too. The palace’s Court Circular, which documents the royal family’s activities, revealed that both Kate and William visited the Duchy of Cornwall’s Nansledan site near Newquay, Cornwall, yesterday afternoon.
Kate and William have not commented on Meghan and Harry’s return to the U.K. On September 1, a source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales told People that the couple was resisting any “knee-jerk reaction” to the development.
“They are watching this space,” the insider said. “It’s private—they don’t feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly.” The source added that any reconciliation between the two couples, whose relationship has been strained for years, “will be a slow build. There is a deep sense of betrayal.”
