By Zoila Palma: The Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Authority (KHMHA) is recognizing its anaesthesia team in observance of World Anaesthesia Day on October 16.
The hospital celebrated its six anaesthesiologists and six Certified Registered Nurse Anaesthetists (CRNAs) for their vital role in patient care across Belize.
KHMHA noted that anaesthesia professionals play a critical role before, during and after surgical procedures. Their responsibilities include assessing patients, managing pain, monitoring vital signs and ensuring patients remain safe and comfortable throughout medical procedures.
Although much of their work takes place behind the scenes, the hospital emphasized that anaesthesia care is essential to surgeries, deliveries and emergency treatments. These professionals help manage some of the most vulnerable moments in patients’ lives through their expertise, vigilance and ability to remain calm in critical situations.
KHMHA expressed gratitude to its anaesthesia team for their skills, dedication and commitment to the people of Belize.
